Forbes, j This morning the following telegram 1 was sent to Mr. Forbes by the Auck- ! land Provincial Fruit-Growers’ Council:— “The fruit-growers of Auckland express regret and disappointment that the new tariff does not provide sufficient protection for the principal fruitgrowing industries—jam-making and fruit and vegetable canning,” Mr. George A. Green, secretary of the council, stated this morning that the council is asking for the active co-operation of the 14 fruit-growing associations in the Auckland Province. There was a large yarding of fdt cattle at the weekly stock sales held at the Franltton yards today. Prices for prime quality were well sustained.
