TRANS-TASMAN RACE

BACKER FOR N.Z. YACHT WANTS FIRST-CLASS VESSEL Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today. According to advice received in Christchurch, arrangements are being made by Australian yachting officials for an ocean yacht race across the Tasman Sea from Melbourne to New Zealand, but it is not certain yet when the race will take place. Mr. A. F. Stacey, of Christchurch, who has guaranteed to back the New Zealand entry, providing the vessel and crew are first-class, has received a cablegram from the commodore of the Victorian Yacht Club congratulating New Zealand on its proposed entry. The rules governing the contest are being forwarded to New Zealand immediately. The yacht Oimara will represent the Victorian Club.
