BILL MAY BE BROUGHT DOWN TOMORROW ABOLITION OF COMPULSION THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. There is a possibility of the Defence Amendment Bill coming down in the House tomorrow or in the next few days and it is understood that it will be quite short, providing for the continuance of the present scheme of the abandonment of the compulsory system. What is to happen to the officers and staff is not known yet, but there are rumours that some of them may he transferred to the clerical part of the service, while members of the civil staff may bo drafted to other parts of the service, or else the staff retrenched.
