Mayor of Auck'and, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning. Sir Alexander Herdman and Lady gerdman, who have been visiting Rational Park, returned to Auckland ihls morning. Mr. E. Casey, divisional superintendent, North Island Railways, left for Wellington last evening on departmental business. Mr. J- K- Lowe, district engineer, Auckland railways, who was to retire from the service at the end of this month, will not retire until January. Mr. D. A. Ewen, managing-director of Sargood. Son and Ewen. Limited, arrived from Wellington yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Ewen. They are staying with Mr. J. F. Ewen. of Itemuera. Mr. A. H. Macdonald, of Auckland University College, will leave for England on Friday to enter Cambridge University. Tie was been awarded a post-graduate travelling scholarship in arts. Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers’ Association, and Mr. J. S. Dawes, tho vice-president, returned from Wellington after attending a meeting of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation. Mr. J. D. Keane, coaching foreman at the Auckland railway station, will rptire on superannuation on August If. He Joined the service in IS9O at Balclutha, and has seen service in various parts of the Dominion.
