WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

BRANCH FORMED AT MATANGI At a meeting at Matangi, held for the purpose of forming a women’s institute, an interesting address was given by Mrs. Irwin, organiser for the Waikato district, on behalf of the Women’s Institutes. It was decided to form' an institute and tho following committee was appointed:—Airs. Trownson. president; Airs. L. Judd, secretary; members of committee. Airs. H. Alaryehurch, Mrs. Dingle, Airs. Thompson. Airs. J. Ranstead, Mrs. W. Boyd. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker for her interesting address. Afternoon tea was served before the gathering dispersed. * * • EDGECUMBE The Edgecumbe Women’s Institute met at Alx*s. Hal’s residence recently.Mrs. Eccles presided over a gathering of 31. including eight new members. The meeting opened with community singing Airs. Eccles demonstrated pic-ture-framing with passe partout binding. The hostesses were Alesdames C. Terry, W Alatthewson, It. Alattliewson and Snelling MEETING AT SILVEUDALE Tho monthly meeting of the Silver- j dale Women’s Institute was held on ! Wednesday, the president. Mrs. Bartlett, presiding. It was decided to hold a gipsy fair in aid of the district nurse ! tund at a later date. Games and a i demonstration given by Mrs. Bart ett j were much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was ! served by Mrs. Mcßae and Aliss G ! Stone.v
