ANNA CHRISTIE
COMING TO THE NEW REGENT A brilliant film production, which introduces tho famous emotional actress, Greta Garbo, comes to tho New Regent Theatre on Friday. As everyone doubtless knows. “Anna Christie” is Greta Garbo’s first all-talking production, and words cannot do justice to the tremendous appeal of this entertainment. Most people have considered Greta Garbo tho greatest feminine dramatic star on the screen—with the addition of her full, rich, expressive voice, there can be no possible doubt of her exalted claim. Great as she was in silent pictures, her voice transforms her'. She is vividly human and-real-
istic, capable of swaying multitudes. But in case this enthusiasm for Greta Garbo, the actress, takes up too much space, it must be added that “Anna Christie” is from the famous Eugene O’Neill play of the same name—a marvellous piece of dramatic art—and Charles Bickford, Marie Dressier and George Marion magnificently support the star. “Anna Christie” is undoubtedly one of the very greatest attractions ever made for the screen.
