PUBLIC MANAGERS UPEAKING at the meeting of the Otahuhu Trotting Club yesterday, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie said there was an idea abroad that if a club was wound up the assets were divided among members. This was quite erroneous, and in the event of a club going out of existence assets went to the Government. This, he contended, was the correct procedure, as after all clubs were only managers for the public. The speaker said he had beep instrumental in getting the laTe Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey to legislate on these lines. In the present instance, continued Mr. Mackenzie, Parliament was unanimous on the merger question, all parties. United. Reform and Labour, approving of the proposal.
