A communication to tiie Auckland Electric-Power Board yesterday afternoon from tlie Melbourne firm of sharebrokers. J. B. Were and Company. Limited, said the company had received inquiry through its London office for New Zealand local body debentures from £IOO.OOO up to £ 300.000. Certain conditions, which the board did not desire to disclose, were suj - gested. and the board was asked if it were prepared to negotiate a loan under the requirements. In the view of the chairman. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, the offer was worth consideration. as the board was buying plant in the United Kingdom. The board is to discuss the offer in committee.
