TRIBUTE TO AIRMAN
AUCKLANDER IS REMEMBERED IN AUSTRALIA WREATH LAID ON GRAVE CANBERRA, Sunday. Today was the birthday of the late Flying-Officer Frank C. Ewen, formerly of the Royal Australian Air Force, who was killed on the day the Federal Parliament was Inaugurated at Canberra. A laurel wreath received from h's mother, of Auckland, was placed on his grave by Mr. A. E. Green. Minister of Defence, in the presence of the congregation of the church in the burial ground of which he was Interred. Mr. Green paid a tribute to the brave airman. 1* lying-Officer Ewen was 27 years of r i¥ e and was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs- F- C. Ewen, of Balmoral Road, Mount Lden. He had been trained aj a flier in New Zealand and 18 months before his death had left to join the Royal Australian Air Force. He wa„ killed while taking part in the final stages of the review at the close of thr ceremony of the opening of the Federa’ Parliament at Canberra on May 9,
