Cabaret-by-the-Sea Thronged by Dancers
Dixieland has surely never been quite so gay as it was on Saturday evening when the popular cabaret by the sea was absolutely thronged with merry-makers-Members of the All Blacks and British footballers were among the visitors and the evening was one of the brightest ever spent at the cabaret. To accommodate the large crowd, extra tables were arranged in the winter garden under canvas awnings, where glowing braziers made the atmosphere quite cosy. Mr Harry Neilson and the Dixieland Band were un great form and dispensed an enlivening programme of dance tunes. AMONG THE DANCERS Mrs. W. C. Ring had on a black satin gown with silver relief. Mrs. Monte Winter was gowned in blue moire with graceful flounced skirt. Mrs. Fred Lucas was in a pretty pastel chiffon and silver lame frock. Mrs. 15. C. Chambers (Wellington) was gowned in ivory chenille embossed georgette. Mrs. Alba Bartley wore cameo pink faille with petal-pointed skirt. Mrs. J. Dudson (Wellington) was wearing black lace over flesh ninon. Mrs. B. Sullivan was in cherry georgette and silver brocaded lame. Mrs. M. Eady was wearing an attractive frock of nymph green chiffop. Mrs. Yocknev was smartly gowned in black faille with pointed hemline. Mrs. .V. N. Jones bad on a black and gold floral ninon frock. Mrs. Smallfield wore a leaf green georgette frock. , , Mrs. B. Thompson (Wangamii) had chosen a gold lace frock mounted on green satin. , , _ Mrs. K. V. Bane was wearing gold lace over gold lame. Mrs. Albert Neville’s gown of silver lace was worn over flesh pink satin. Blue and silver polka-dotted net was chosen by Mrs. A. Jones. Mrs. Gray was wearing a leaf green embossed georgette gown. Miss Joan Robertsoi? was wearing a gown of lido blue satin beaute. Miss Molly Mitchelson’s slim-fitting frock was of peach pink faille. Miss Rita Cornaga's uneven-length gown was of Ivory satin beaute. Miss Kathleen Motion had on winternvmph green georgette with unevenlength hem. , Miss June Frater’s frock was of ivory satin and lace. Miss Dene Plummer’s slim-fitting frock was of black satin beaute. Miss Gwen Kingston was wearing a gown of black chiffon heavily embroidered with black sequins. Miss Shirley Frater wore a pretty frock of ivory georgette and tulle. Miss Wilma Frater’s frock was of green floral satin. Miss Marjorie Tiarks was gowned in petunia fish net with deep decolletage mounted on self-toned satin. Miss Val Jackson’s smart gown was of deep begonia ring velvet. Miss Cherry Anderson was wearing nile green chiffon combined with green and sliver metal cloth. Miss Joan Hudson had on a smart frock of black and silver metal lace. Miss Peggy Ford had on a taffeta frock of palest primrose with ankle-length skirt. Miss Tweet Macindoe was wearing black georgette heavily encrusted with diamente and silver beaded embroideries. Miss Winsome Airey had chosen a frock of peach pink faille with unevenlength hem. Miss P eggj’ Robertson’s pretty frock was of prlntemps green faille. Miss Audry Alison was in a blue and lavender petalled taffeta frock. Miss Linda do Renzy had chosen a silver embossed black georgette gown. Miss Kitty Horsley was wearing a pretty uneven-length frock of leaf-green lace and chiffon. Miss Ailsd Lewis had on sea foam green satin and tulle relieved with diamente Miss Phyl Macindoe was gowned in peach pink moire velvet. Miss Helen Seabrook’s frock was of shrimp pink frilled taffeta. Miss JBabs Suter’s smart frock was of gold lame and black net. Miss Betty Buddie was in a black and amber floral ninon frock. Miss Olivo Btckerton’s becoming frock was of flesh pink ninon with floating shoulder draperies. Rhinestone trimming relieved Miss Molly Bailey's frock of apple green chiffon. Miss Gwen Court had chosen a very charming frock of floral faille. Miss Freda Suter was wearing a bouffant gown of lilac taffeta .and tulle. Miss Thelma Ogilvie’s fringed frock was of chiffon velvet. Miss Hazel Purdora was frocked in sunset pink faille. Miss Nell Purdom’s frock was of sea foam gren satin and silver lame. Miss Gwen MacMillan had on a prettv ivory lace frock with touches of red. Miss Alberta MacMillan had chosen peach pink taffeta with petal pointed hemline. Miss Marjorie Blakey was in a bouffant gown of turquoise blue taffeta relieved with silver. p- . Miss Gretta Heron was in bright capucine georgette with silver beads embroidering the corsage. MJSS Gwen Kenrich was in a gros grain taffeta frock with flared skirt clipping to the ankles. Miss Doris Tills was in ah orchid pink floral faille frock. Miss Emma Andrews had chosen a gold brocaded lace frock. Miss Marjorie Drummond had on a cameo pink georgette frock. Miss Freda Gaudin wore a pretty frock °f flame ninon with beaded embroideries Miss Macklow’s frock of cameo pink clas Sette Was relieved with a brilliant Miss Rita McVeagh was in l black frilled taffeta gown. Miss Bettina Edwards was gowned in soft ivory lace with touches oi silver. Miss Joyce Stewart wore a delphinium blue taffeta gown with widely-dared skirt Miss Oiga ,McDuff was in a faille frock combining sunset pink and blue. Larkspur blue georgette with diamente relief was chosen by Miss Humphries. Miss Lilian Fraser was wearing a georgette frock of vivid pointsettia red. , Edna Craig was in an uneven length frock of palest pink chiffon. Miss Kathleen O’Connor had on a black georgette frock Miss Ilene Spence was wearing a bouffant gown of parchment shaded faille. Miss Mona Craig was wearing a black georgette frock relieved with touches of ivory. Miss Graham’s uneven length frock was of pastel pink georgette. Miss Corner had chosen a frock of peach pink panne velvet. Miss R Leach was wearing vivid eapucine chiffon. Black and silver floral ring velvet was worn by Miss E. Leach. Miss Olive Bailey had on a frock of absinthe green chenille embossed georgette. Miss Pattie Sutherwood had chosen n pastel green chiffon frock with silver beaded embroideries. Miss Mary Stewart’s frock was of rose satin and honey-coloured lace. Deep cream chenille embossed georgette was chosen by Miss Crandall. Palest pink chiffon velvet fashioned the frock worn by Miss Townsend. A smart black sequined gown was worn by Miss Flavell.
