NEW REGENT
“MONTANA MOON” An engrossing plot, splendid direction, beautiful photography and a corking good performance upon the part of Joan Crawford, make ‘Montana Moon,” now on view at the Regent Theatre, one of the few pictures which may b‘o counted as so much entertainment lost if missed. Miss Crawford, who shows herself to bo more pf a dramatic actress with each new vehicle, has the role of a society girl, who, tiring of the conventional boredom of New York activities, takes a group of friends out West to visit her father’s ranch in Montana. Here she impetuously marries a cowboy who, in the light of her recent distaste for hypocritical-man-nered Eastern gentlemen, seems to her to bo the real man she has always wanted. The acting of Miss Crawford as the debutante. and John Mack Brown as her husband is all that could be desired, while splendid roles are played by Ricardo Cortez as the "heavy,” Dorothy Sebastian as the heroine’s sister and Lloyd Ingraham as her father. Cliff Edwards, Benny Rubin and Karl Dane make hilarious cowboys. A most enjoyable .supporting programme of talkies is also being presented. The next picture at the Regent will be “Arina Christie,” the first talkie made by the brilliant star of the silent films. Greta Garbo. Although Swedish by birth, Miss .Garbo lias mastered the English language so well that her first talkie is said by American critics to be an outstanding success.
