“A BRIGHTER FUTURE”

OVERSEAS BUTTER MARKET STATISTICAL POSITION SOUND A steady but slow improvement in the butter market rtght up to November was predicted by a leading Auckland dairv produce exporter in a talk with a SUN man this morning. The statistical position is very sound, stated the exporter, and there appeals to be no reason why last week’s improvement should not be sustaine .. with further gradual upward movements right up to November, by which ’ time the flush of the Southern Hemisphere make will be starting to come on the market again. Contrary to the general opinion in these days when there is so much talk of over-production. official figures i show that during the first five months 1 of the present year, January to May. i there were 290 tons less of New Zea- i lapd butter placed on the London mar- i ket than during the corresponding ! period of 3 929. At the moment the Continental season is on the wane, i and there to be a generally ! better demand all round, with buyei s showing increasing confidence in the ! near future. Inquiries in the right quarter this morning elicited the information that ; practically the whole of the exportable ! surplus of the 1929-30 season has beer, j cleared out of Auckland stores, afu I shippers are experiencing a quiet time : awaiting the real start of the new , season. A small shipment may be sent j forward to Canada within the next j week or so. but. at the moment, there j is little indication that there will bo any big shipments made to that quarter over the next month or so in ord**r to get in before the application of the increased tariff in October.
