45,000 SAW MATCH AT EDEN PARK BRITISH TOUR TAKINGS The official estimate places the attendance at the third Rugby Test between New Zealand and Britain at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon at 45,000 —a record at a Rugby game in New Zealand. While the Eden Park crowd was much larger than that at the secotm Test at Lancaster Park, Christchurch the gate takings at Auckland are stated to be not as large because the grandstand accommodation here fe smaller and fewer expensive aeats were sold. The takings at Christchurch, £6.540, represent a New Zealand record. When New Zealand played the Springboks at Eden P«rk in 1921 in the second Test, th» tilings were £5,300; the takings os Saturday afternoon are believed to be more than £5,000.
So far. the takings for the matches of the British Rugby tour have exceeded £ 40,000. At Dunedin for th» first Test, the takings were £2,4Sf The fourth Test will be played at Wellington, and officials there are cat fident in predicting a record crowd at Athletic Park. Two games hawe already been played by the British at Wellington, with Wellington and thf Maori fifteen, and at both there wenlarge attendances. It is confidently anticipated th£t there will be accommodation for more than 12.000 at Rugby Park for the British match on Saturday. An embankment has been erected right around the field for standing or - lookers and three rows of seats all round inside of the fence. The main stand will chiefly be occupied by those to whom allocation.have been made and complimentary ticketholders. There are 546 seats on the auxiliary stand for which booking opens tomorrow at S a m. These will bo tfc* only seats available for reservation. It is expected that between 9,000 and 10,000 can be accommodated standing
