CYCLIST KNOCKED DOWN
DANGEROUS DRIVER FINED For driving a car in a manner liable to be dangerous to the public, James Fo-tvley was fined £3 and ordered to pay costs, £ 1 4s, and for having no tail light fined a total of £ 1 2s, by Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., at the Otahuhu Magistrate’s Court today. Sergeant Rowell said the defendant was driving his van along the main road at Otahuhu, which was well lit. He overtook a motor-cyclist pushing the cycle and sidecar along the side of the road, and knocked down the cyclist. Defendant’s windscreen was in a very dirty condition and the driver could not see through it. The cyclist was slightly injured. Counsel for defendant said the windscreen had been cleaned at Penrose, but vision was obscured by dazzling headlights.
