BRITISH PILOTS LEAD
THREE RUNNING CLOSE IN LONG AIR RACE CIRCUIT OF EUROPE British Official "Wireless Reed. 11.25 a.m. RUGBY, Friday. Three British pilots, Butler, Broad and Thorn, who were the first, arrivals yesterday afternoon in the circuit of Europe air race, were closely followed by two German airplanes piloted by Boss and Moetzig early this morning The three British pilots left for Berne, and afterward continued the journey toward Munich, where they arrived later in the following order: Broad, Butler, Thorn. They were followed by Moetzig. The three British competitors reached Vienna this afternoon from Munich several hours ahead of the others. Captain Broad) in a Gipsy Moth, arrived first, Alan Butler, also in a Gipsy Moth, a few minutes later, and Thorn, in a Gipsy Avon, half an hour afterward. The weather conditions, including heavy rain, have made the contest extremely difficult.
