READY FOR RACING
TE AROHA’S NEW COURSE LAWN IMPROVEMENTS Three months ago doubts were expressed as to whether the yew course proper would be in a proper state for use at the next annual race meeting, set down for February 28 and March The winter rains have so well consolidated it, and the grass is showing , up so well, that a tip-top racing track would bo assured even if the meeting had to be held a couple of months earlier than usual. Improvements are now being carried out to the lawn and saddling paddock. On the grass track yesterday morning the work was principally of the ha If-pace order. Miss Albyn, Black Maire, Waipoto filly, Glenison, the Lucullus—Miss Floss gelding and Lucky Alice were given easy tasks. Sir Russell was sprinted over short dashes, while Indolent and the Weathervane—Panama filly spurted a couple of furlongs, the latter getting away too quickly for the General' Latour representative, and showing the way home.
