Weights of Test Teams ALL BLACKS SELECTED Strang as First Five-Eighth BOTH back and forward, the British Test team tomorrow will carry a big advantage in weight over the New Zealand side. The weights of the two teams given below show that in the scrum Britain will possess an advantage of approximately 20 stone. This, however, includes Ivor Jones's 13.10, which it is doubtful is always applied by this fast and enterprising break-away forward.
The All Black team has beeu selected as follow: Fullback. —G. Nepia (Bast Coast). Threequarters.—G. F. Hart (Canterbury). A. E. Cooke (Wellington), F. W. Lucas (Auckland). Five-eighths.—W. A. Strang (South Canterbury), M. F. Nicholls (Wellington). Halfback. —M. Corner (Auckland). Wingforward.—C. G. Porter, captain (Wellington). Hookers. —A. I. Cottrell (Canterbury), J. Hore (Otago). Lock.—E. R. G. Steere (Hawke’s Bay), Sides. —R. G. McWilliams (Auckland), W. E. Hazlett (Southland). Back Row.—W. Batty (Auckland), H. F. McLean (Wellington). Eighteen players were selected to assemble at Auckland, blit with I. Finlayson (North Auckland) confined to hospital with a septic arm,’ and R. T. Stewart suffering from an injured shoulder, this left only one player, a back, over and above Ibe required number. Under the circumstances the selection of the team occasioned little surprise, it being generally anticipated that Cooke would be played at centre and Lucas on the wing in place of Olliver, the Wellington threequarter. The seven forwards in the scrum total 96.7 or an average of approximately 13.12. The total weight of the New Zealand seven scrumming forwards will be approximate!j- .96st 71b and that of the eight. British players 116st 61bs, a difference of approximately 20 stone. Light training was indulged in this morning by the British test team, which arrived in Auckland from Rotorua yesterday afternoon. The team trained at King's College grounds, which had been placed at its disposal, afterward being the guest of the Auckland Golf Club at lunch.
Raleigh Street and no through traffic in AValters Road. Taxis and buses will be able to park in Rossmay Avenue, near the Sandringham Road entrance to the ground. Cars parked in Walters Road, Kowhai Street, Bellwood Avenue, Emma Street, Marlborough Street and Cromwell Road must be at an angle of 50 degrees to the kerb, and private gateways must be kept clear. MAIN ROUTE DECIDED For through traffic to and from Eden Park, one main route will be available. From the city, cars can travel down Dominion Road, Burnley Terrace. returning through Sandringham Road, or, alternatively, down Sandringham Road and Burnley Terrace, vtt turning along Dominion Road. Passenger vehicles in all probability will travel to the park along Sandringham Road to reach the main entrance and private cars would make quicker progress to the* park along Dominion Road. Leaving Eden Park for the city, private cars will travel along AValters Road, turning to the left into Kowhai Street or Emma Street to reach Onslow Road and then Dominion Road. Dominion Road can be reached along Bellwood Avenue, too. A’ehicles travelling to Mount Eden and Epsom by AA’alters Road will use Valley Road from Dominion Road; those travelling along Bellwood Avenue will enter Grange Road or other thoroughfares from Domiuion Road. Turn 3 to the right to or from the park at the junction of AValters Road and Dominion Road and from Valle*’ Road into Dominion Road will be prohibited. Every effort will be made by the police, the traffic officers and Aucklan , Automobile Association to preserve the order distinguishing the previous Saturday’s parking and travelling arrangements.
