NEWMARKET'S ATTITUDE

COMMERCIAL AIRPORT QUESTION The Newmarket Borough Council received, at its meeting last evening, a letter from the City Council asking for delegates to attend a meeting to consider the establishment of a commercial airport in Auckland. The Mayor, Mr. S. Donaldson: I am inclined to think it would be better to leave it to private' enterprise, but we should be represented. It would not bo wise for any local body to incur expense in the establishment of an airport. Ho moved accordingly, and the motion was carried. Mr. Donaldson and Mr. W. J. Jaffrey were appointed delegates to the conference.
