MAUNGATAPERE ATHLETICS
At a general meeting of members of the Maungatapere Athletic Club, Mr. J. G. Draper presided over a largo attendance. The secretary’s report showed that the club's meeting on Easter Monday resulted in a profit of over £IOO. The club has now approximately £275 cash in the bank and an excess of assets over liabilities amounting to £3OO. This happy financial position was favourably received, and given good management and organisation, and maintenance of the present high standard programme, the club's future looks very rosy indeed. Mr. F. O. Armstrong was appointed delegate to the annual conference of the Northern Athletic Union. The usual donation of two guineas was made to the St. John Ambulance Association. The sum of five guineas each was donated to the Rev. Jasper Calder’s City Mission and the Maungatapere Soldiers* Memorial Church. Mention was made of a number of suggested improvements for the next sports meeting. These will be considered by the executive and reported on at the annual meeting.
