Successful Tennis Dance

Members and Friends Spend Happy Evening AUCKLAND CLUB’S ANNUAL FUNCTION Members of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Club, and their friends, spent a thoroughly enjoyable time * a-t the club’s annual dance, held in the Click Clack Cabaret last evening. Blue and gold was the colour scheme chosen for the decorations in the ballroom, and downstairs, in the lounge, vases of bright yellow jonquils and feathery mimosa were arranged on the tables. Mr. Norman Ganley and. the Click Clack Internktionals played a lively programme of dance tunes. During the evening Miss Joyce Wright gave a novelty dance, which was greatly appreciated,, and an exhibition of the “skaters’ waltz,” and the modern “quickstep” was contributed by Miss Bettina Edwards and Mr. Crawford Norris. COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT Mrs. E. Verran wore a gown of black and floral faille. Mrs. Richards was gowned in a bouffant green taffeta. Miss Ine Abdullah was wearing a smart gown of floral ring velvet and black net. Miss Daisy Wickes had chosen a black georgette frock, embroidered with jet and silver beads. Miss Grace Steane’s flounced frock was of vivid geranium red georgette. AMONG THE DANCERS Mrs. R. S. Burt wore an ankle-length gown of ivory patterned lame. Mrs. H. It. Tyler had chosen a bouffant frock of orchid pink taffeta. Mrs. Fletcher Jones was wearing a gown of brocaded lame and tulle;. Mrs. W. G. Mansell had on a coral pink chiffon frock embroidered with rose and silver beads. Mrs. C. Meikle was wearing lavender tinted chiffon and lace. Mrs. J. C. Finlay was gowned in black chenille embossed georgette. Mrs. L. Kingsland was in absinthe green chenille embossed chiffon. Mrs. H. Wilson wore a smart gown of black embossed * chenille. Mrs. Byrch was in a frock of black nhantilly lace.’ Mrs. Marrott’s gown was of black and. gold brocaded metal cloth and black chiffon. . ~ _ Mrs. Mann had chosen cloth of silver and leaf green georgette. Miss Edna Ballantyne’s frock was of nymph green taffeta and net. Miss Gretta Heron wore a vivid capucine georgette frock, with flounced skirt and bead embroidered corsage. Miss Mona Craig's ankle-length frock was of amber-coloured taffeta. Miss Leila Maher had on flame georgette and gold lace. Miss Elaine Robb was wearing a pretty leaf green moire taffeta frock. Miss Doreen D’Authreau had chosen a bouffant gown r>t cuban orange faille. Miss Joyce Wright’s frock was of ivory chenille, with full skirt of ivory chiffon. Miss L. Hutten had pn a beaded chiffon frock of nymph green. Miss Doris Cleland’s picture frock was of ivory satin beaute and fine ivory lace Miss Bettina Edwards wore an attractive cloth of silver gown. Miss G. Whittaker was gowned in black chiffon and net. Miss Olga Reid’s smart frock was of chartreuse green georgette, wifh floating Miss Molly Simmonds was in a frock of turquoise blue satin and polka dotted net. Miss Delamore was in an embossed ring velvet gown. Miss Norah Flynn was frocked in gold lame and canton jade georgette. Miss T. Rountree had on a frock of sunglow pink taffeta. Miss Olive Clarke was gowned in saracen red georgette and taffeta. Miss Melba Davis wore a frock of lime green silk faille. Miss Trigg had chosen a frock of cameo pink georgette. Miss Doreen Harrison chose a gown of jade green flounced georgette. Miss Noral Adams had on a frock of rose pink georgette and silver. Miss D. Dixon was gowned in Chinese red georgette. Miss M. Adams was wearing black ring velvet embroidered with rhinestones. Miss Edwina Foote wore phlox pink taffeta, with a brocaded coatee. Miss Hermione Schischka’s frock was of primrose floral taffeta and georgette. Miss Jean Moore had chosen a frock of delphinium blue taffeta. Miss O. Abdallah chose a gown of eau de nil georgette. Miss Capple had on a frock of black embroidered lace. Miss Gane was gowned in a frock of cyclamen georgette. Miss Sylvia Norie was wearing a frock of deep pink beaded georgette. Miss L. Waite wore black lace over gold.
