INTOXICATED IN MOTOR-CAR Press Association HAWERA, Wednesday. Resulting from a motor collision on the evening of June 3, one of the drivers involved, a Maori, Whitikia Kairimu, was today fined £2O and his driver’s licence was suspended for 12 months on a charge of intoxication while in charge of a car. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and protested that he had had only two drinks on the day of the accident. The magistrate accepted the opinion of three witnesses that neither defendant nor his companion was in a fit state to drive. On further charges of negligent driving and driving without a licence defend-nt was convicted and discharged.
