FREE FIGHT RAGES
FRACAS IN QUAY STREET FOUR MEN IN COURT As the result of a free fight in Quay Street last evening four men appeared in the dock at the Police Court today. Frederick Collins, seaman, 33, Thomas Allen McClymont, carrier, 35, Frederick Mervyn Julius Blank, a porter, 23, and Sydney Dawson, a taxidriver, 25, were charged with fighting last evening. McClymont and Blank pleaded not guilty, and a plea of guilty was ent€*red by the other two men. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said that two constables had been called to Quay Street, where a free fight was raging last evening. Four men were arrested, and another man got away. It was alleged that Dawson and Collins had attacked McClymont and Blank. Constable Day said that Blank had asked him to stop the fight. McClymont, who was a respectable man, had come to Blank’s assistance. When witness arrived McClymont was struggling with Dawson. The charges against McClymont and Blank were dismissed. Collins was fined .£ 3, in default seven days’ imprisonment, and Dawson was fined £2, in default five days’ imprisonment.
