GAMING BILL

NOT FOR THE GOVERNMENT From what could be gathered in Wellington the other day*there is no prospect of the Government introducing a Gaming Amendment Act Bill, but one may be brought up by a private member. If it does come up it will have for its basis the creation of a legal channel to secure a vast amount of revenue from' racing and trotting that now escapes the Treasury coffers, and bestows riches in other directions. If the members of Parliament approached the matter in the right spirit and took evidence on the question a new Gaming Act could be made that would save trouble and expense, and incidentally prove a great source of revenue.
