A HARD DOUBLE
THE TWO NATIONALS WON ONCE IN DIFFERENT YEARS Horses claiming the dual engagement, Grand National Steeplechase and Grand National Hurdles, are Aurora Borealis, Mangani, Omeo, Nukumai Radiate and Wharncliffe. The feat of winning both Steeples and Hurdles in one year has never yet been accomplished, and only, one horse, Haydn, has succeeded in winning the two events in different years. In this year’s field Mangani, Nukumai and Wharncliffe have already won one of the Nationals, and will endeavour to emulate Haydn’s performance.
