Miss Joan Esse, who has been on a visit to New Plymouth, has returned to Auckland. * * * Mrs. C. Jeffries, of New Plymouth, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Alister Stewart, of Auckland. Dr. and Mrs. A. F. Hickey, of Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Johnstone, of Dunedin, are staying at the Grand Hotel. * * * Miss Grace Mackintosh, of Aberdeen, has been appointed principal of Columba Girls’ College, Dunedin, in succession to Miss Frances Ross. Miss Mackintosh, who is a graduate of Aberdeen University, with honours in English literature and language, was selected from a large number of New Zealand and British graduates. She will take up her duties in September.
