WOOL ODDMENT SALE
AUCKLAND FIXTURE STEADY DEMAND ON LOW LEVELS The first wool oddment and crutchings sale of the winter season, under the auspices of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association, was held this afternoon. There was a good attendance of local scourers and exporters; several outside buyers were also present. A catalogue of approximately 700 bales was made up mostly of crutchings; less than 200 bales of fleece wool out of the 10,000 odd bales left over from last season were offered for sale.
There was a steady demand throughout, and a considerable portion of the offering changed hands; in a large number of instances reserves had been placed well above market value. Crutchings met with a slightly better market than at late local sales, picked lots making up to 6Ad a. lb: medium crutchings made s£d to 6d a lb; ordinary, 4d to a lb. Fleece wools sold on a par with prices at the March sale, fine crossbred making to 8d a 11>: medium. 6id to 7id a lb. The usual fortnightly offering of sheepskins met with an easier market dry skins being down id to id a lb. on late rates; salted skins were 3d to 6d a. skin easier.
Hides met with a dull sale at prices which showed no improvement on recent low rates.
