HISSED BY CROWD
BATSMAN HIT ON NECK BY FLYING STONE CRICKETERS’ ALLEGATIONS Reed. 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The "Book of Two Maurices," which is written by M. J- Allom and M. J Turnbull, and which describes the tour of Australia and New Zealand by the English cricket team last season, freely criticises the Australian umpiring and gives many instances of bad decisions against the Englishmen. The chief criticism is directed to the match against Victoria, where the umpire is said to have insisted that the light was fit to play in. In consequence of this decision Gilligan and Duleepsinhji were speedily dismissed, and when the players came in Benson received a stone on the neck and the crowd hissed.
