AUSTRALIA’S REMEDY
FINANCE HEADS CONFER ON CREDIT ABROAD MEMBERS’ SALARIES REMAIN Rec 4. 10.40 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A vital conference of bankers and political leaders was held at Sydney yesterday in the presence of Sir Otto Xiemeyer, of the Bank of England. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, and Sir Robert Gibson, chairman of directors, and Mr. E. C. Riddle, sovernor of the Commonwealth Bank, »ere also present. The conference came to au arrangement under which the available credit overseas will be mobilised at the disposal of “the Commonwealth Government. This will provide a solution of the difficult problem of overseas exchange now confronting Australia, and the various Governments of Australia will have the first call on the available funds in the hands of the oanks in London. Mr. Scullin has stated that the Federal Government has no intention of aQ y alteration in the salaries 01 Ministers and members of Parliament.
