ATHLETES TO TOUR N.Z.

INVITATIONS TO AMERICANS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Invitations are to be sent by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to two outstanding American athletes to tour New Zealand during the coming athletic season. They are' George Simpson, of Ohio, and George Bull winkle, from the college of the City of New York. The council also had a third name for consideration, Harlow Rothert (field events), of California, and decided, while favouring his inclusion in the invitation, to submit the question to local centres. In presenting the sub-committee’s report to the council, Mr. V. Hugo said that there w r ere no athletes suitable in Canada, and in view of the fact that an American team was to tour South Africa next season, it was out of the question to expect visitors from South Africa. It is proposed that the Americans shall be in New Zealand from January 12 to March 24.
