PLAZA AND TIVOLI
“THE BIG PARTY” The romance of a shop girl and her “boy friend,” played against a varigated setting that ranges from a Third Avenue tenement to an elaborate roof bungalow and a gorgeously modernistic modiste’s establishment, and further adorned with plenty of delightful comedy and half a dozen of the season’s catchiest, songs—that, in a nutshell, is “The Big Party.” now at both the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres. Bright supports are being shown at both theatres. Not since his unforgettable “Broken Blossoms,” has Richard Barthelmess appeared against the exotic and mystic background of Chinese philosophy and customs. In "Soil Of The Gods,” his newest and most lavish starring vehicle, he once again appears amid the surrounding of this ancient civilisation. The story is based on Rex Beach's famous novel and the scenes are laid in American Chinatowns and the French Riviera.
Alice White will shortly be seen in her first technicolour picture. “Show Girl In Hollywood.” In this production the director has presented Hollywood—the real Hollywood with all its tinsel and heartbreaks, its comedy and its tragedy —as the story of “Show Girl in Hollywaed."*-
