MT. EDEN TRAM ROUTE

QUESTION OF SECTIONS PETITION BY RESIDENTS Residents of Mount Eden are getting in early on the question of section® when the new tram extension is completed. One hundred and fifteen names appeared on a petition to the Transport Board this morning asking whether it was the board’s intention to retain the present section at Penearrow Avenue as a terminal and to make two additional sections from there to Mount Albert Road. If this were the board’s intention, the residents asked that reconsideration be given on the ground that the present two sections from Symonds Street had always been considerably shorter than those on other lines. Further, it would seem not unreasonable to ask that residents to be served by the extension should be treated in the same way as those living on the Dominion Road extension. It was desired, in short, that the present terminus at Penearrow Avenue should be moved to a line equivalent to Halston Road. Dominion Road.

The petition will be dealt with by the board in committee.
