OIL COMPANY CASE
JUDGMENT GIVEN AGAINST PIMENTEL FALSE REPRESENTATIONS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. In his reserved judgment in the Pimentel case concerning the Mecca Oil Company, Mr. E. Page, S.M., held that the transactions were entered into on the false representations of Pimentel, that he was the accredited representative of a company in America which he called the Mecca, and that this company owned its own. oil wells and refinery. In view of the fact that criminal proceedings were pending against defendant he did not think it desirable to discuss the matter further. He gave judgment for the amounts claimed, to Wakefield £245 17s 3d. to Begg £179 10s and to Wimsett £94 6s Id with costs in each case.
Mr. Treadwell, counsel for plaintiffs, said that under a section of the Magistrate’s Court Act he had filed notice yesterday that he required defendant to be examined forthwith as to any debts accruing or due to him with the idea of taking an attachment proceeding on any such debts. He did this because he wanted to be assured that the £3,000 odd. it was alleged defendant had made in New Zealand would not go out of the country.
