NOT THE MEN
SEARCH FOR REMUERA THIEF RED-HAIRED MAN SOUGHT It has now been established that the two men seen in a Newmarket hotel on Saturday," one of whom was re ported as being responsible for a daring theft in Remuera, were not in any way connected with the robbery. It was stated that the thief, who was a red-haired man, was seen with a companion in the hotel, but the two of them rushed out and jumped into a waiting taxi-cab. According to the cab driver the men had engaged him in Victoria Street at the time the theft at Bassett Road, Remuera, was committed. They made, a rush visit to the hotel at Newmarket while on the way to Onehunga. Nothing further has been heard ot the red-haired man who escaped after being seen while in the act of rifling a bureau in the home of Mr. Duncan Clark, Bassett Road. Only about 5s was stoleu. The thief is said to have had a companion waiting for him outside tho house.
