CANTERBURY V. WELLINGTON CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday. The Canterbury hockey team todo. played the second challenge match this season in defence of the New Zealand Hockey Championship Shield Wellington was the challenging team, and the game ended with a score 2 goals ail. leaving Canterbury still in possession of the shield. The weather was dull but fine and throughout the game was fast and exciting. Wellington had the better of the first half, but infringements b> the forwards spoiled some of tl.e chances- The second half was a dingdong struggle, in which both teams scored two goals. The result was a fair indication of the merits of the respective teams. Canterbury played better than itd«i against Otago, and the standard o hockey today was superior to that the previous shield match.
