LADY MYERS ENTERTAINS FOR HER EXCELLENCY WELLINGTON RECEPTION Her Excellency Lady Blcdisloe was the guest of honour at a very enjoyable afternoon reception given by Lady Myers at her home in Kelburn, Wellington. on Wednesday. Many official people were invited to meet her, including the wives of Cabinet Ministers, judges, heads of Government departments, and some of the leading lawyers’ wives as well. The house was charmingly decorated with flowers, many pots of hothouse primulas being much admired, as well as abutilons, bright autumn leaves and berries. One table was arranged witn shaded pj,nk primulas from Mrs Cobbo’s beautiful garden at Feilding. the other table being decorated with vivid viburnum berries. Log tires blazed in the reception rooms and contrasted cheertfy with the wintry atmosphere outdoors. Lady Myers was in palest blue lace over chiffon, with diamente trimming, and a shoulder spray of pink roses. Her Excellency was in deep red crepe do chine, her.hat being exactly to tone, and a handsome sable coat was also worn. SOCIAL EVENING VISITING HOCKEY PLAYERS ENTERTAINED A very enjoyable social evening was held at the Y.W.C.A. social lounge recently to entertain the women hockey players participating in the Auckland Provincial Cup Tourney, held last week at Remuera. At Dixieland Many Dancers Visit Popular Cabaret Mr. Harry Ncilson and the famous .Dixieland band played a delightful selection of dance tunes on Saturday evening when many dancers passed a very pleasant evening at the cabaret-by-the -sea. A party of British footballers visited Dixieland and spent an enjoyable two hours’ dancing at the popular cabaret. AMONG THE DANCERS Airs. Bartley wore an orchid pink georgette frock embroidered with crystal * M. Winter had on a flounced frock of larkspur blue moire. Mrs. C. Vennell’s pretty frock was of printempts green moire. A pretty frock of larkspur blue ana lilac petailed taffeta was worn by Miss Audrey Alison. _ Aliss Audrey Hutchinson was gowned in floral chiffon. Aliss Leslie Waller wore a georgette frock of vivid poinsettia red. Aliss Molly Reeves had on a flounced frock of rose du barri georgette. Aliss Ina Wight wore an unevenlength frock of nymph green faille. Miss Colebrook was in coral pink velvet, with shoulder spray of blue flowers. Miss AlcLachlan’s gown of black ring velvet was relieved with a diamente clasp. Miss C. Weir had on a frock of nile green georgette and taffeta. Miss Crawshaw was wearing a frock of rose velvet and net. Miss Noel Stone was in a pretty flowered chiffon gown. Miss L. Rennick’s smart frock was of rose floral taffeta and black georgette. Alis 3 Alartin wore a graceful frock of patterned ninon. Aliss Pullham had on a green aud cherry figured frock. Aliss Smith was wearing a gown of peach pink georgette and fine silver lace. Miss C. Akroyd had on a period gown of black faille.

Aliss Prendergnst had chosen a lilac and black patterned chiffon frock. Aliss Wills had on a smart frock of cherry red moire.

Miss Armstrong's frock was of apricot georgette with uneven-length hem.

CLICK CLACK CABARET MANY DANCERS PRESENT ON SATURDAY ENJOYABLE EVENING Special lighting effects and gay decorations made the Click Clack- Cabaret very gay on Saturday evening. Excellent dance music was played by Mr. Norman Ganley and the Click Clack Internationals. The lounge was very prettily ar- * anged with bowls of mimosa and deep yellow jonquils. Among those present were: Mrs. G. Johnston was wearing a frock of primrose taffeta. Mrs. J. Berry was gowned in ivory lace with an oriental wrap. Mrs. G. Mann wore a frock of unrelieved black georgette. Miss Jackson’s ankle-length frock was of deep red satin beaute. Miss E. Haig was wearing cherry red georgette. Miss Mavis Bevan wore a gown of bronze georgette. Aliss Alice Hurst chose a frock of firefly lace over satin. Miss Joyce Frost’s gown was of floral taffeta with a silver lame coatee. Miss P. Walker had chosen & frock of black beaded georgette. Aliss O. Ferae wore a gown of ivory georgette. Miss V. Gregg was frocked in shaded blue georgette. For her dance frock Atiss M. Browne ; chose shrimp pink taffeta. Aliss Sheehan had chosen a frock of black ninon. Aliss C. Turner was wearing a frock of J shell pink crepe de chine. Aliss Mary Bray was wearing gold lace i over lettuce green georgette. Aliss Odium had on a parchment satin j beaute frock. Miss Alclntosh's gown was of floral . Aliss Molly Moore had no flame coloured ! satin. Aliss J. Black was gowned in floral taffeta. Miss Eileen Walker was wearing a dance frock of powder blue taffeta. Alis V. Taylor chose a frock of black ring velvet. Aliss J. Harris was gowned in apple green embossed georgette. Aliss E. Jay was .in unrelieved black georgette and tulle. Miss B. Elcher had on a pretty frock of deep rose georgette. Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS At tho monthly meeting of the board t of directors, presided over by Mrs. J. t A. Bradstreet, the delegates to the meeting of the National Board, recently held in Wellington, gave their reports. The main lines of development there decided upon were an extension of boy-and-girl activities, cooperation with the Y.M.C-A-. and the institution of a training course for j secretaries and others. It had been also, to invite ! Miss Jean Stevenson (formerly general secretary of Auckland Y.W.C.A., and now in Melbourne) to accept the post of national travelling secretary for New Zealand from the beginning of 1931. Arrangements for the approaching annual meeting on July 28 of the local Y.W.C.A. were finalised, this being also tho occasion of a farewell to Yuki Kimura San. The president made feeling reference to the retirement of Mrs. J. C. Dickinson. Mrs. Charles Smith, Mrs. J. W. Wiseman and Mrs- Todd-Smith from the board. Department reports advised a satisfactory progress throughout the association. An invitation was issued to the gymnasium demonstration arranged for July 24. The holiday house has been visited by members of the Men’s Advisory Committee and praise expresesd for the humane work it was doing in the care of convalescent women and girls. Later a special meeting of the board received and approved annual reports in all departments and passed the estimate of receipts and expenditure for the ensuing year.
