CREDIT BY FRAUD
SALESMAN FINED £2 Described by the probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, as having been on a drinking bout, Frank James Price, was fined £1 at the Police Court today on each of two charges of obtaining credit by fraud. Price, a traveller, aged 38, was charged on two counts of obtaining board totalling £5 15s at City hotels, thereby obtaining credit by fraud. He pleaded guilty. Chief-Detective Hammond: He has been on canvassing work in Auckland. He stopped one week at one hotel and three or four days at the other by telling a tale. He has been in custody since Friday, and has a wife and five children.
There was no doubt that accused had been on a drinking bout in Auckland, said the probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell. Accused was fined £l, on each charge and ordered to make restitution of the board money. Default was fixed at one month, and accused was given 14 days to pay.
