REUNION AND ANNUAL MEETING HELD j REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING “To succeed in life it is necessary to have some model to look to, and look where you will, you will find no better model than the late Mr. J. \V. Tibbs,” said Mr. E. R. Davis, chairman, in proposing the toast of the headmaster and staff at the annual meeting and reunion of the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys’ Association on Saturday evening. “The Grammar School has produced many fine men, including the late headmaster, Mr. James Drummond, and the present headmaster, Mr. Mahon.” continued Mr. Davis. In responding. Mr. Mahon said that there was no office in either State or Church which he would rather fill than the headmastership of the Grammar School. The pride which he felt in the school was largely on account of the old boys, and the standing of any school was determined by the achievements of its old boys and there was indeed reason to feel proud of the Grammar old boys and their achievements. OLD BOYS AS PLAYERS Mr. J. Stanton proposed the toast of the British football team apd in doing so mentioned that five members of the victorious Auckland side were old boys of the school. In replying on behalf of the visitors. Mr. Farrell made special mention of M. Corner, whom he described as the finest halfback the visiting side had met during the tour. Mr. Brown proposed the toast of kindred associations. replies being made by old boys of King’s College. Sacred Heart College and Technical College. The guests included the headmaster of the school, Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, Messrs. J. L. Farrell. S. R. Martindale and 11. Wilkinson, of the British Rugby team, ; members of the Auckland Rugby team < and representatives of kindred associa- ‘ tions. The annual report and balance sheet, details of which were previously pub- ' lished, were adopted. The retiring president, Mr. A. St. C. Brown, com - mented on the satisfactory financial position. During the evening a brief musical programme was supplied by an orchestra under the conductorship of Mr Trevor Sparling, and by other artists. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. E. R. Davis; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. A. J. Billington. A. M. Nicholson, E. Creagh. V. N. Hubbl®: committee, Messrs. A. St. C. Belcher J. R. Frankham, W. W. King, J. Stanton, J. A. E. Mulgan. K. Robinson and A. St. C. Brown; hon. secretary. Mr T. S. Miller: trustees. Dr. E. Roberton. Messrs. V. Meredith and E. E. Vaile: hon. auditor. Mr. M. D. Gray.
