TOWN HALL PERFORMANCE \ I Gounod’s impressive “Come tv, 1 i Him” was a number excellently w preted by the Municipal Choir r enjoyable concert in the Town Hal * ! Saturday evening. A numberotMtv I assisted. The light lilt of Purcell’s "Xy»v and Shepherds,” chosen as the number, contrasted effectively ' stirring tones of Gounod’s number slumber song, a Hampshire air V ranged by Gustav von Holst, and i English folk songs,, “There Was' Tree” and •Here’s a Health Unto e', Majesty.” followed. Mr. Mawfe. Barnett led the choir extremely**, in “The Little Sandman.” amuaj fewest, and a semi-sacred number wr I rapid changes in tone and row Gaul's “The Singers,” was the m eluding selection. Madajne Irene Ainslev was the tog. ist of the evening. The selections Newell suited to her contralto voice. & sang Meyerbeer's “Nobil Signor." tnc 1 ‘*Th© Huguenots,” and “Kaovtr Thou the Land.” from “Migaon." I Miss Lalla Hemus played a« cfii solos Squire's \Priere” and Xn t Bruch’s chant. "Kol Xidrei." XBarnett completed the programme utj two organ Solos, Hollins’s “InteruMU* and a. concert fantasia on Bizet's *Cu men." The accompanist was Mr. Lt Whittaker.
