AUSTRALIA WAS GOOD TO GREAT BRITAIN REPLY TO PHILIP SNOWDEN United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 9.45 a.m. CANBERRA, Today. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, replaying to Mr. Philip Snowden’s statement that the safeguarding of industry policy was largely responsible for Australia’s present position, said the previous policy of allowing Australia to be flooded with imports was largely responsible for the depression. He added that Australian preferences to Britain had increased from £20,000,000 in 1907 to £52,000,000 last year. These preferences would be increased still further if Britain would enter into reciprocal agreements He intended to place the Australian post tion fully before the Imperial Conference.
