AMENDING LEGISLATION
REDRAFTING OF COMPANIES* ACT The redrafting: of the Companies Act, which is at present being carried out, would result in an amended Act which would follow very cloaely th© ,English legislation, according to Mr. J. L,. Griffin, president cf the New Zealand Society of Accountant?, at a meeting of the Auckland branch last evening. Mr. F. T. Eyre presided over an attendance of 60. The committee responsible for the redrafting of th© New Zealand Act was composed of two representatives of th© Law Society, two representatives of the Accountants* Society, two representatives of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, and two representatives of shareholders, who also happened to be members of the Accountants’ Society. The fact that the Government had not filled the seat on the Railway Commission vacated by Mr. G. W. Read, the representative of th© Accountants’ Society, was deprecated by Mr. Griffin. Mr. Read had been coir - pelled to resign owing to ill-health.
