SHORT SLEEVES
MAY BE HELD IMMORAL IN EGYPT Women who appear in short sleeves in the streets of this land of Cleopatra would be liable to imprisonment for “immoral” conduct under a bill presented in Parliament, says a message from Cairo. The bill stipulates that the offending woman may be warned twice by a husband or guardian, but upon the third offence must be prosecuted. Conviction will bring a fine of £2 or seven days’ imprisonment. All women over 14 years of age come within the bill's provisions.
