SHOT BY UMBRELLA Shot by the police . . . with an umbrella. Such was the grotesque misadventure that Brought to book a Sydney man alleged to have obtained large quantities of motor tyres from wholesalers, with faked orders from garages. Police decoyed the man to a warehouse. There was a scuffle, and one of the plalnclothesmen, Just dodged a terrific punch, and twisted his ankle badly. The man fled. The policeman hurled his umbrella to trip him. It hit him —and he took It for a bullet, and halted.
