THE WRONG MAN

BUT MONEY RETURNED How a man, who was robbed of a bank bag containing £53, had it returned to him after he had given a man into custody, was described at North London recently. Samuel Winfuelk, of Westbourne Park, said he got wedged between men on the stairs of a tramcar and felt a hand touch his hip pocket. , He missed the bag with the £53, and Alfred Bartran left the car. He followed and gave him into custody. “When I left the police station and was about 100 yards away, I was stopped by two men,” he continued. “One man said, ‘You have claimed the wrong man. Here is your money.’ handed me the bag of notes and the two made off.” Bartran was discharged.
