MID-WEEK FOOTBALL
PROSPECT OF COMPETITION KEEN GAME NEXT WEDNESDAY There was general disappointment in the camps of the Trotters and THE SUN football squads when the Carlaw Park playing area was unavailable last Wednesday, owing to the unfavourable weather conditions. Both teams had put in some good training and were eager for the much discussed clash. While the Epsomites have some rare speedy pacers, ““Abaydos” has noticed a few fclassy gallopers among The Sun combination, and with speed well represented on each side, and stamina on a fifty-fifty basis, a very fast game was anticipated. > However, the bout will be definitely staged at Carlaw Park next Wednesday, and additional interest will be taken in the fixture, as the League governing body is contemplating some tangible encouragement for mid-week competitions. The possibility of a series of similar games for the remainder of the season will put a keener edge on the enthusiasm of the various players. Any proceeds derived from Wednesday's function will be given to charity.
