DEEPER SHIPS
FUTURE VESSEL WILL CARRY 80,000 TONS OF CARGO ECONOMICAL TRANSPORT Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Sir John Biles, vice-president of the Institution of Naval Architects, addressed a conference of that body at Liverpool. He said the most economical merchant ship of the future would be one drawing 60 feet of water and capable of carrying 70.000 or 80,00 u tons of cargo, instead of 20,000, as at present. This development would greatly affect the depth of docks.
