HUNT MEETING

INTERESTING CARD AT WAIMATE TOMORROW WILL TOWN MAJOR RUN? The big question that stay-at-home backers will be asking themselves tomorrow is: Will Town Major start at Waimate tomorrow? Truly enough, that question is a pertinent one, for after this hack’s outstanding Trentham form, his future career will be invested with considerable interest. On the middle day at Trentham last week lie was weighted at 10.4, an apprentice’s allowance seeing this weight reduced to 9.13. Still, he romped home ahead of Tahoraa and Malahat. In the Waimate Hack tomorrow he was handicapped by Mr. Ilenrys, before the Wellington meeting commenced, at 9.5, and as a result of his wins at Trentham Town Major was mulcted in a 221 b penalty, bringing his weight up to 10.13. It is a weak field, however, and Town Major has only to go to the post to be a warm proposition. In Open Company On the final day at Trentham Town Major took on open company in the Winter Oats, one mile, and he all but beat Taboo at level weights, there being only half a head between them They carried 9.9. This pair were well clear of the other horses. Taken all round, the programme to be staged by the Waimate Hunt Club tomorrow is an interesting one. The following horses will be well supported in their engagements: Blue Cliffs Hunters’ Steeples BARRING TON. RED HEATHER or WEST DOME. Studholme Hurdles TROILUS. ORIFLAMB. Waihao Hack Handicap VALUATOR. SOLMURI. Winter Trot MARY LOCAXDA SNOWY 11U ON Hunt Club Cup Steeples BARRINGTON. NIGIITRAID. Morven Handicap CAMISADER. FIRST RAID. Hunters’ Flat Handicap WEST DOME. BARRINGTON Waimate Hack Handicap TOWN MAJOR or HIGH GEAR. SOLMURI.
