The Log Book

PERSONAL.—The Dominion Superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that Mr. William Reece, one of the company’s directors, died yesterday. Accordingly Tags on the company’s offices and on all vessels in port are being flown at half-mast today.

THIRTY-SIX DAYS FROM HOBART. —After a good run of 36 days from Hobart, the Commonwealth and Dominion steamer Port Wellington arrived at Dunkirk on June 28.

KALINGO DISPATCHED.—The Union Company’s steamer Kalingo was dispatched last evening for Napier to complete unloading timber and general cargo from Australia. The Kalingo w'i’l afterward return to Coff’s Harbour. Port' Stephens, and Newcastle to load for Lvttelton, Timaru and Greymouth. ROTORUA SAILS.—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s'liner Rotorua sailed for Wellington last evening to complete unloading cargo from London. The vessel will afterward load at Bluff. Port Chalmers, Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on August 16 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

WAIPAHI DISCHARGING.—The Union Company » Island steamer Waipahi arrived at Auckland early yesterday afternoon from Rarotonga and berthed at Queen’s Wharf to discharge her cargo of fruit from the Cook Islands. She is scheduled to leave Auckland again next Thursday for the Cook Islands to load another fruit cargo.

WAIHEMO FOR OVERHAUL.—The Union Steam Ship Company advises that its trans-Pacific cargo steamer Waihemo. which is now at New Plymouth completing discharge of her cargo from the Pacific Coast, is to leave there at eight o’clock tonight for Westnort, in order to replenish her bunkers. From the coal port she will come on to Auckland for overhaul and survey. She is expected to be in port here overhauling for a fortnight, and on completion is to be dispatched for the Pacific Coast to load another cargo for New Zealand.

THE DALFRAM.—The British steamer Dalfram. at present at Chelsea Wharf discharging sugar from Cuba, is expected to leave for Westport on Tuesday.

THE COLUMBIA. —The Danish motorvessel Columbia has been delayed at Wellington, but is expected to leave this evening for She will am'e at Auckland on July 25.

TUTANEKAI IN PORT.—The Government stpamfr Tutanekai arrived at Auckland last evening: after her Inspection of East Coast lighthouses and berthed at Central Wharf. She will remain in port until Monday morning.

THE PORT ADELAIDE.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Adelaide, which left Wellington on June 13 for London, via Cape Horn, is reported to have cleared Las Palmas on Tuesday.

KARAMEA COMPLETING. —The Shaw Savill Company advises that the motorship Karamea left Lyttelton yesterday afternoon for Wellington to fill up. She is scheduled to clear that port finally next Tuesday for London, via the Panama Canal.

WESTMORELAND FOR HOME.—The Federal Line steamer Westmoreland is due at Wellington on Sunday to complete her homeward loading. She is scheduler to clear Wellington on Tuesday for London, Avonmouth. Liverpool. Manchester and Glasgow, via Panama.

RANGITANE FOR HOME.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that its motor-liner Rangitane, now at \\ cllington completing her Homeward loading, is to sail from there at daybreak tomorrow with passengers and mails for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal.

THE TANKER BISCA. —According to advice received from the Atlantic Union Oil Company the tanker Bisca, which arrived at Wellington this morning, is due to arrive at Auckland at noon on Monday, where she will complete discharging. She leaves Auckland for Sydney.

TOFUA AT SUVA. —The Union Company's Island steamer Tofua, which wus dispatched from Auckland last Saturday for Fiji, Tonga and Samoa, arrived at Suva at 6.3‘J a.m. yesterday. She is to leave Suva at four o'clock this afternoon in continuation of her voyage. The Tofua is due back at Auckland on August 4.

THE PORT PlßtE.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line vessel Port Pirie, which was at Prince's Wharf loading foi* Montevideo and London, was scheduled to sail at noon today for Napier and Wellington to complete her cargo. She is scheduled to sail finally from the capital on July 24 on her Homeward voyage. Her local agent is Heather, Roberton, Ltd.

KIWITEA LEAVES MELBOURNE.— The Union Company has received cable advice that the Kiwi tea left Melbourne at three o’clock on Wednesday afternoon for Auckland. The vessel is expected to reach Auckland toward the end of next week. She has cargo for discharge at Auckland. Portland, New Plymouth, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and possibly Dunedin.

MARGARET W.LOSES PROPELLER. —The Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ motor-ves-sel Margaret W.. was compelled to return to port shortly after leaving Auckland yesterday afternoon as the result of losing a propeller in the Hauraki Gulf. The vessel will b© placed on a slip at Julian’s Wall, Freeman’s Bay, and another propeller will be fitted. She is expected to sail this evening. AUSTRALIAN CARGO SERVICE. The Gabriella is to leave Sydney today for New Plymouth and Wanganui. The Kaiwarra. from Newcastle, via Pic ton and Nelson, is due at W-elliugton today. The Kekerangu left Lyttelton on Tuesday for Sydney. The Omana left Dunedin yesterday for Newcastle and Sydney to load for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Timaru.

ASTORIA FOR NEW PLYMOUTH.— Henderson and Macfarlane, Lid., advises that the Danish motor-ship Astoria, which was at King’s Wharf discharging the local portion of her cargo of pho.*--pliates from Nauru Island, was io Mi if: to Western Wharf at 11 o’clock this morning to replenish her oil fuel bunkers. She was then to sail at 2 p.m. for New Plymouth to complete unloading. From New Plymouth she sails for Nauru and Ocean Islands to load a cargo of phosphates for Australia. NO REPORT FROM PAKIPAKI.—No wireless communication had been received this morning from the Federal steamer Pakipaki, which is en route from Liverpool to this port with a cargo of general merchandise from West Coast United Kingdom ports. Radio advice as to the time of her arrival here is expected at any time now by her local agent, the New Zealand Shipping Company. After she has put out the local consignment of her cargo the Pakipaki is to be dispatched for Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Timaru to complete discharge.

RANGITIKI AHEAD OF SCHEDULE —Cabled advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that iti-motor-inner Rangitiki, en route from London and Southampton to Wellington, via the Panama Canal, arrived at Colon on Wednesday.
