AUCKLAND TEAM IS FIT

Match Against Britain

1 TRAINING FOR SEVEN WEEKS

Talk on Tactics Tomorrow

HAVING been in training for the past seven weeks, the members of the Auckland representative team to meet Great Britain on Saturday are reported to be in tip-top condition. During the week-end the team spent five useful hours in the country and training operations will conclude this evening. Tomorrow evening, however, the team will assemble for a team talk, when tactics and the general plan of the game will be discussed.

Although interest is principally centred in the Teat match ou Saturday week it is anticipated that for a representative fixture there will be a record attendance at Eden Park on Saturday. Many establishments are letting their staffs off earlier and it is expected that by 11 o’clock quite a large section of the community will be making its way in the direction of Eden Park. The fine weather experienced today has made a big improvement to the ground which, earlier in the week, was inclined to be damp and greasy. Another fine day tomorrow should see it in excellent condition. SEATS DISPOSED OF Seats for the Test have all been disposed of, excepting, of course, those in the hands of private speculators, who are awaiting the arrival of the country contingent. Inquiries for accommodation for Saturday week are

still being received by hotel pro- ■ prietors, many of whom are now ■ completely booked up. Country resi- , dents desirous o£ spending the Test week-end in the city or of staying overnight are strongly advised to make early arrangements regarding accommodation. On the occasion o£ the All BlacksSpringbok match in 1921 it was estimated that there were 28,000 spectators at Eden Park. At the second Test in Christchurch recently there were 34.700 spectators. It is estimated that with the improvements effected at Eden Park it will now hold 42,000 people. There is no doubt but that all of that space will be required. Despite published reports to the effect that the British team would arrive this afternoon the statement appearing in The Sun yesterday that the team would arrive on Friday afternoon is officially confirmed by Rugby Union officials.
