MANUREWA CLUB ANNUAL MEETING There was a large attendance of members of the Manurewa Bowling Club at the annual meeting held in the Town Hall last evening. Mr. C. Hawthorn, president of the club, presided Before commencing the business of the meeting, the chairman made reference to the loss sustained by the club by the death of Mr. E. J. Butierworth. In his annual report the president gave a comprehensive summary of the activities of the club during the past season, and said that there was a small increase in the membership of the club.

The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed the finances of the club to be in a very sound state. Income for the year totalled £lB9 6s sd. and expenditure totalled £169 6s sd. showing a credit balance of £2O to be carried forward. The principal items of income were:—Membership, £BB 4s: Croquet Club contribution to loan, £2O; and contribution to maintenance, £ls. In expenditure, the main items were maintenance, £65 10s 9d, and special loan paid off, £SO. The liabilities of the club were set down at £2l 2s and assets were shown as £220. The chairman presented Mr. Eccersfield with the trophy won by him in the championship junior singles.

Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs. Law and White, for the services rendered to the club as treasurer and secretary respectively. On the proposal of Mr. J. Murray, the secretary was authorised to thank the women’s croquet club for its special donation of £2O toward the installation of a water supply on the grounds. In consequence of a letter from the Auckland Bowling Centre, it was decided to enter in the pennant competitions and to enter four teams.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. A. C. A. Sexton; president, Mr. J. Murray; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. F. H. Burnard and G. Gallaher; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. W. Whyte; assistant secretary and treasurer. Mr. J. Wilcox; general committee, Messrs. J. Wilcox, C. Robertson, .7. Law, C. White, R. Looker. H. R. Grey; lion, auditor. Mr. Kay; delegate to the Auckland Bowling Centre, Mr. E. S. Pegler; coach, Mr. R. Forbes: match committee, Messrs. E. S. Pegler. F. H. Burnard and J. Murray.
