LOITERER AND CADGER
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE Described as a loiterer and cadger of drinks, with 32 previous convictions, Louis Harold Rowe, who appeared at the Police Court today, was remanded for sentence for a week. Rowe, a hawker, aged 48, pleaded not guilty to being idle and disorderly, with insufficient lawful means of support. According to police evidence, Rowe had been hanging around hotels cadging for money and drink. Rowe said he had been in work until three weeks ago, but had since oe come destitute. “He does a bit of canvassing,” said Chief-Detective Hammond. Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M.: Yes. for drinks. Staff-Captain Holmes said Rowe nad the chance of a job hawking lish and asked that he be sent to he Salvation Army Home until he started work. “I don’t want a man of his character canvassing,” said Mr. Hunt. On the understanding that he would get a job out of the City Rowe was remanded for seven days for sentence, to remain in the custody of the Salvation Army in the meanwhile.
